The question of this new campaign “One Laptop Per Child” is probably the most insane piece of art Yoko Ono has done in her life. Imagine if every starving African had a laptop powered by the sun? Imagine if Google could spin advertising to them? Imagine if the starving child dying of AIDS in the Congo can eat that MIT Laptop?
The plan is to stuff words in Lennon’s mouth how nice it would be if every child had a laptop? So they want to flog off the un-saleble XO solar laptop as some kind of elaborate money laundering scheme where someone gets money to make a computer no one would buy and flog it off to a charity that gives it to starving children in the poorest countries.
What goes on in these people’s minds? Are they so wound up in themselves that they do not have a touch with reality? Do they know what it is like to try and eat in the Third World?
I can see it now, an airdrop in Ethiopia. 100’s of laptops dropped down to a lone tribe of pygmies munching on some roots. Every child now burdened with a useless computer around its necks. Unable to understand the language it is running, unable to understand what connect to the Internet is, 1000’s of miles from any Internet and of course without the strength to lift their heads to look at the tiny LCD. What are you thinking people? Where is your humanity?
This is just another stunning commercialization of John Lennon's name by Yoko Ono. Even in death he has found no peace while this woman sells his name to provide a commercial outlet for another commercial spinoff at MIT. This is not charity it is commerce used to dump unusable junk on the poor.
John Lennon would not be trying to give starving children in poor nations laptops; he would feed them and give them medicine. This has all the earmarks of a Yoko Ono festival – a real freak show.
