Mackenzie Phillips. Daughter of John Phillips, leader and one of the founding members of the Mamas and Papas claims John Phillips had committed insest having sexual relationships with her from 1979 to 1989. Mackenzie Phillips recent disclosure on the Oprah Winfrey Show comes as no surprise to those who know this family. Poor Mackenzie has been caught using harder drugs many times in her troubled life and it looks like she wants to clean up her closet.
Her family, rather than being supportive of her traumatic experience with drugs, loose sex and fatherly incest have claimed John Phillips would be incapable of incest to a lesser insult that this disclosure was “an unfortunate circumstance” and “very hurtful to the whole family.” We wonder what Michelle Phillips means by this? Is she worried about the daughter whose psychology was ripped apart by the abuse of power inflicted on her when her father brought rather un-fatherly love to his daughter or the truth?
What is obvious is that this family is pretty sick and not helping Mackenzie out. Here is a living being who has been mentally screwed, physically screwed and left with no one to help her. A family who would rather see her continued drug use rather than cleanse her soul opening her ravaged life in the hopes that help and support for her plight would be there.
The Mamas and the Papas were the epitome of new age harmony on the outside and rotten like bad apples inside. It is a shame the family still will not support the children they messed up. California Dreaming anyone? Or just a bit of incest?
